Short answer: To make its Tumblr acquisition work!
In my previous post, I had written some of the strategies Yahoo could follow to monetize/ benefit from its Tumblr acquistion. A little bit later after posting the blog, I came across an article on Fortune that described a technology company - Drawbridge that is trying to link cross website traffic using analytics with around 70% success rate.
If the technology is viable, Yahoo should waste no time in acquiring it to allow some of the cross site analytics between Tumblr and Yahoo properties to work.
